Use Muse Code

Muse Code signs in with your Meta account. During Enjoy’s first setup, it appears as Meta.

Before you start

  • Use the Enjoy app on your computer to install and sign in. After that, you can also use Muse Code from the web app.
  • You need a Muse Code subscription, which you use by signing in with your Meta account, or a Meta API key. See Do I need a separate AI subscription?

Steps

  1. Install Muse Code

Select the agent button at the bottom of the message box, select Muse Code in the Agent column, then select Install Muse Code. When it’s done, select Use Muse Code. See Install an agent.

  2. Sign in

In the Sign in to Muse Code window, select Sign in to Muse Code. Your browser opens a Meta page. Sign in to your Meta account if it asks, then approve the request. The window closes once Muse Code is signed in.

  3. Choose an effort level

Muse Code offers Minimal, Low, Medium, High, Extra high, and Ultra. High is its default. Ultra runs at the model’s highest level and can have Muse Code hand more of the work to helper agents.

  4. Choose a permission profile

In the Permissions column, Auto-review, the default, lets Muse Code edit the project while its reviewer decides the requests it can and asks you about the rest. Ask me gives the same access but asks you each time approval is needed. Read only reads the project without changing anything. Unrestricted runs without a sandbox or approval prompts, so use it only in an isolated environment.

  5. Send your message

Muse Code starts working with the settings you chose.

Good to know

  • The Model column lists the models Muse Code offers your account, such as Muse Spark 1.3.
  • Muse Code only updates that list when its own app starts, so a newly released model can be missing. In the desktop app, select the circular arrow beside Model and Enjoy has Muse Code fetch its latest models for you. See Choose a model.
  • Muse Code doesn’t have Fast mode.
  • When you choose a profile other than Auto-review, the agent button shows it as a badge.
  • Approval cards say what Muse Code wants to do, such as Allow this command?, and offer Muse Code’s own choices, such as Allow once or Reject. For a command with several parts, Muse Code can ask about each part in turn, and the card says which one, such as Stage 1 of 2. A card that Muse Code’s reviewer passed to you says Muse’s reviewer asked you to decide. See Approve or decline agent requests.
  • When Muse Code asks permission to use Enjoy’s own tools, Enjoy answers for you, so the approval cards you see are only for other actions.
  • Questions Muse Code asks with its own question tool appear as cards with its choices. Select one, then Confirm. See Answer your agent’s questions.
  • If you send a message while Muse Code is working, it can take the message in during its current work. See Send follow-ups while the agent works.
  • You can attach images to Muse Code conversations.
  • Muse Code can run its skills: type / in the message box and choose one. It finds the project’s skills in .agents/skills and .claude/skills, your own, plugins’, and the ones that come with it. See Run one of your agent’s skills.
  • Muse Code follows your project’s AGENTS.md, or CLAUDE.md when there’s no AGENTS.md, along with the project’s Instructions in Enjoy. See Give agents instructions for a project.
  • The activity panel shows Muse Code’s steps, its to-do list as a Plan, and its helper agents. Commands it runs in the background appear in Processes with their output. After its main work, Muse Code can review what it did before it finishes, which shows as a Checking the work step. See Follow what your agent is doing.
  • Usage shows your subscription’s limits, such as 5 hours and Weekly, with when each one resets.
  • Muse Code learns its limits when it replies, so Enjoy shows them once Muse Code has replied to a message in the project. Afterwards, Enjoy keeps the latest numbers faded until each limit resets; point to them to see when they were reported. Until Muse Code has replied, or after you restart Enjoy, you see Usage unavailable. With an API key, Muse Code doesn’t report usage.
  • Muse Code uses one account in every project. To change it, select Change account under its usage in the agent settings. See Change an agent’s account by signing out. The activity panel shows the account Muse Code is using under the running model.
  • Instead of signing in, you can use a Meta API key. Muse Code uses a key stored by typing muse auth set in a terminal, or one set as META_API_KEY. A key set as META_API_KEY takes priority over any sign-in, so Enjoy can’t change Muse Code’s account while it’s set.
  • If the terminal can’t find muse, Enjoy installed it in a folder your terminal doesn’t search. On a Mac or Linux, type ~/.local/bin/muse auth set instead.
  • Muse Code subscriptions start in Contributor mode, which gives you more usage in exchange for letting Meta train its models on your content, such as your prompts, code, and files. You can turn it off at any time in Muse Code’s settings. See Meta’s subscription guide.
  • For anything on a schedule, Enjoy asks Muse Code to save an Enjoy workflow, because Muse Code’s own scheduled jobs only run while its program stays open.
  • Enjoy gives Muse Code’s own record of each conversation the same name as the conversation in Enjoy.
  • Enjoy runs Muse Code with its automatic updates turned off and tells you about new versions instead. See Update an agent.

If something goes wrong

Muse Code sign-in didn’t finish

The message ends with Try again to open a fresh sign-in page. The request may have been denied, or it expired before you approved it. Select Sign in to Muse Code again, and approve the new request in your browser.

Usage unavailable

Point to Usage unavailable under Muse Code to see why. Muse Code shares its limits after it replies to a message in Enjoy. means it hasn’t replied in this project since Enjoy started. Send it a message, then open the agent settings again. Muse Code reports usage only for a subscription, not for an API key. means Muse Code uses an API key, which has no plan limits to show.

This agent uses a key or managed sign-in

You see this when you select Change account while META_API_KEY is set on your computer, often in your terminal settings. The key overrides any account you sign in with. Change or remove it where it was set up.

This Muse Code version can’t give its sessions Enjoy’s tools

Your copy of Muse Code is too old to use Enjoy’s tools. Update it, then send your message again. See Update an agent.
