Will having more than one Claude or Codex account get me banned?
Lots of people keep two accounts with the same AI company, such as a personal plan and a work plan. That’s allowed, and Enjoy is built for it.
What the rules say
Neither Anthropic, which makes Claude Code, nor OpenAI, which makes Codex, limits how many accounts one person can have. Both explain in their own help centers how to switch between your accounts.
Neither company asks for a different person, card, or invoice for each account either. Paying for two plans with your own card, under your own name, is fine.
Claude Code
- Anthropic’s Consumer Terms and Usage Policy set the rules. Neither limits the number of accounts.
- Anthropic’s help center answers “I have multiple accounts – how can I switch between them?” in Log in to your Claude account.
- In February 2026, after people asked about a wave of suspensions, a member of Anthropic’s Claude Code team said publicly: “It’s not against terms of service to have multiple MAX accounts.”
Codex
- Codex signs in with your ChatGPT account, so OpenAI’s Terms of Use for ChatGPT apply. They don’t limit the number of accounts.
- OpenAI’s help center explains how to use multiple accounts with account switching in ChatGPT. Each account keeps its own billing and settings.
- OpenAI’s terms also say you can’t get around its rate limits or restrictions. OpenAI hasn’t said publicly whether a second paid plan counts, so if you need more Codex usage, changing your plan is the safest route.
What does get accounts suspended
Both companies suspend accounts for how they’re used:
- Sharing an account. Both say you can’t let anyone else use your account or give them your sign-in. Each plan is for one person. Anthropic’s Claude Code documentation adds that the usage limits on Pro and Max assume ordinary, individual use.
- Reselling access. Anthropic’s Usage Policy forbids selling access to Claude, or passing other people’s requests through your plan.
- Getting around a ban. If Anthropic bans an account, you can’t keep going with a new account or another one you already have.
- Creating accounts to hide what you’re doing. Anthropic forbids making accounts to avoid detection or to get past Claude’s safety rules, and creating accounts automatically with a script.
If an account is suspended anyway
Suspensions are the AI company’s decision, and Enjoy can’t see or change them. If you think one is a mistake, appeal to the company:
- Claude: go to claude.ai, sign in with the suspended account, and fill out the appeal form. See Safeguards warnings and appeals.
- ChatGPT and Codex: use the appeal link in the email OpenAI sent you. See Why was my account deactivated? for other ways to reach them.
Using more than one account in Enjoy
- Enjoy keeps several Claude Code or Codex accounts signed in side by side, so you can switch without signing out. See Switch between agent accounts.
- Each project can use its own account, so a work project stays on your work plan. See Use a different account in each project.
- In a project inside WSL on Windows, accounts are kept in the project’s Linux distribution, separately from the ones on Windows. See Work on a project inside WSL.
- Each account signs in through the agent itself, on Anthropic’s or OpenAI’s own sign-in page, the same way it would in a terminal.
