Read the Manual inside Enjoy
The Manual is the guides on this help site, built into Enjoy. It opens on the right of the window, so you can follow a guide’s steps while you work.
Steps
Open the Manual
In the computer app, choose Enjoy Manual from the Help menu. You can also press ⌘? on a Mac, or Ctrl+? on Windows and Linux, which works in the web app too. Some links in Enjoy open a guide in the Manual directly, such as What are apps? under What should your app do? when you make an app. The round ? button at the top right of All apps shows a guide’s summary first; select Open the Manual in it to read the whole guide.
Find a guide
Type in the search field at the top of the Manual, or choose a guide under Popular or a topic under Topics.
Move between guides
Links inside a guide open the guide they name in the Manual. Use the back and forward arrows beside the search field to return to pages you read, and All topics (the list button) to go back to the start.
Close the Manual
Select the X (Close the Manual) at its top, or press ⌘? or Ctrl+? again. When you open it next time, it’s where you left it.
Good to know
- The Manual sits where Agent activity does. While it’s open, Agent activity steps aside. Select Show agent activity, the last button at the top right of a conversation, to bring Agent activity back, which closes the Manual. See Follow what an agent is doing.
- In narrow windows, the Manual opens over the window instead of beside it.
- The guides’ text comes with Enjoy, so you can read it without an internet connection. The screenshots under the steps load from this site, so without a connection a step shows only its text.
- Open on enjoy.dev, at the end of each guide, opens the same guide in your web browser.
- The guides in the Manual are the ones that shipped with your version of Enjoy. If a link names a guide your version doesn’t have, the Manual says so and offers to look for it on enjoy.dev.
- The iPhone app doesn’t have the Manual. Read the guides at enjoy.dev on your phone.
- JOY reads the same guides when you ask her how something in Enjoy works. See Ask JOY, which oversees your agents.
