How conversations get their names
Every conversation has two names: a title that comes from you, and a short label that comes from the agent.
The title
The title is the start of your first message, up to 100 characters. Docs, files, and workflows you mentioned appear by name, and attachment names are left out. A conversation started by running a workflow is titled with the workflow’s name.
You see the title at the top of an open conversation, in lighter text after the label, and as the bold text of the conversation in the list. A long title is cut off when there’s no more room. You can rename it.
The label
When an agent starts on a new conversation, Enjoy asks it for a short label of three to six words, such as “Fix checkout button”. The label appears in bold at the start of an open conversation’s heading and at the top of the conversation’s row in the list. A conversation with replies you haven’t read shows a dot on the message icon at the end of its row. You can rename the label, or add one to a conversation that doesn’t have one.
On narrow windows, such as the web app on a phone, the heading shows only the label. A conversation without a label yet shows its title alone.
Rename a conversation
- Click the label or title at the top of the conversation, or choose Rename conversation in the ⋯ menu (Conversation actions).
- Type a new label in the large field at the top.
- To change the title, press Tab or click the smaller field under the label, then type. Titles can be up to 100 characters.
- Press Enter, or click anywhere else, to save. Press Esc to keep the old names.
The label in the list shows your new words as you type. Labels can be up to 80 characters and can’t include < or >.
Your messages don’t change, and the agent never renames a conversation or replaces a label you set. A field you leave empty keeps the current title or label.
Add a label
If a conversation has no label yet, the large field at the top reads Add a label when you rename the conversation. Type one there.
Find a conversation by name
Search for any word from its title, its label, or its messages. See Find a conversation.
On narrow windows, the heading shows the label, so rename from the ⋯ menu. The menu also has Conversation details, which shows both names: Conversation is the label, and Title is the title.
If you turn off Message preview under Choose what to show in Appearance, rows that have a label show only the label, except while you search. See Use Compact view for conversations and messages.
